Southwest Birds Quilt

PROGRESS: 100% COMPLETE
TO DO: complete second sample quilt. quilt/bind both of them. fix pattern. print/post.
this is a quilt pattern I've been working on for the past few months, and it's finally in the end stages!

Dear Jane Quilt

PROGRESS: 32% COMPLETE
BLOCKS COMPLETED: 93/169 blocks, 27/52 triangles, 0/4 corners
this is a monster quilt that I started on jan 1 2025. it's based on the civil war-era quilt made by jane stickle. every single block is different, and I've made a rule for myself that I can only use fabrics from my stash or that have been donated to me. no buying anything. I'm not planning any layouts ahead, so I just go block by block. even though I'm about halfway through the blocks, I'm putting my progress at 30% to account for all the handquilting it's going to take.

Joanna Newsom Lyric Book
PROGRESS: 50%??
progress on this one is sooo hard to judge. I'm basically trying to make a book filled with all of joanna newsom's lyrics, with each song being heavily annotated with word definitions and any notable references. I'm not including any personal interpretations of songs, just any information that could help others develop their own interpretations. I think MEM is finished. ys is almost finished. hoom is about halfway done. and I haven't started on divers. no clue when this will be done, but it's fun to work on when I remember it exists!

Art Quilt #4

PROGRESS: 70%
TO DO: sew on a few more fabrics, handquilt, bind
yet another art quilt that I started a few years ago? I think? it was initially based off of heidi parkes' moon quilt prompts, which deal a lot with thoughts on gender and femininity. but as I got closer to finishing the quilt, I realized that I didn't really agree with her prompts. a lot of them wanted you to think about the ways that men and women differ, and I didn't want to do that. men and women aren't opposites. mentally dividing the two helps no one. so now I want to try and work that idea into the handquilting, which I have yet to start on.

Word Soup Books
PROGRESS: NA, 3 BOOKS COMPLETED
I don't do a lot of bookbinding, but I think it's so fun! so I've been compiling all 12 issues of my word soup zines into one book. I've made three books so far, all slightly different. it's so cool to see the zines in this context. I don't have a set number I want to make, so I just make them whenever I feel like it.

Baby Quilt/Burial Shroud
PROGRESS: 70%
TO DO: handquilt, bind
I started this project in october 2024. it's an all white quilt with tatreez (palestinian cross stitch) motifs that are representative of water, life, and youth. I finally finished the tatreez portions of the quilt, and will hopefully start on the quilting soon. my plan is to quilt it with keffiyeh inspired patterns, but I still need to work out exactly what those will look like.
