BLACK PHOEBE
(Sayornis nigricans)

black phoebe eating some kind of damselfly. rip damselfly. my first black phoebe sighting was so odd. I was very aware of them, knew they were in the area, but had never seen one. and then one day I looked in my backyard. and there was a black phoebe. just for a moment. and then it flew away. it was like seeing a celebrity. I have not seen a single one in my neighborhood since then, and I don't know why that bird was there that day.
